Guys using Scorpion rockers and Twisted Wedge heads come in.

I am getting all the parts I need together for my heads/cam swap. I decided to use the 1.6 Scorpion rockers on my Trick flow heads.

The question I have is will they clear my stock 89 valve covers, with just removing the baffle? I have heard you may also need to grind down some spots inside the covers, how bad do you have to dig into the covers? Lastly, what valve cover gasket did you use, and do you have a part number for them.

They'll fit, you may have to grind on the sides of the valve covers, mostly the indentions of where the bolts are.

I recommend the FMS rubber gaskets or similar. They have a steel core and will likely outlast your motor.

The fit with some heavy grinding, if you want to upgrade it is not a bad idea.

I like the stock valve covers so I really don't want to change them out. Any chance of pics of said grinding?

If there is no other choice but to change the valve covers, which covers will clear a typhoon intake and stock hood? I found some nice one at http://www.andersonfordmotorsport.com/ anyone have these?

You have to grind a lot of material out of the stock ones and the AFM covers are near identical to the stock ones.

If your looking for an in expensive set that will not require a spacer to clear them. COMP Cams makes a polymer valve cover that will work, otherwse you will need to add atleast a 1/2" spacer or more to get the manifold to clear.

I used some aftermarket aluminum one's I got from a swap meet, no name on them, I see the same design on ebay, They bolted right on, I didnt like the polymer ones that comp has, Most likely you will have to modify the ones you get.

Just get the FPP tall ones.
