Alright guys I need some help finding the right combo for my needs. Any help you guru's can give me would be much appreciated.

I have narrowed it down to 3.

I saw the TrickFLow install in Last months 5.0 issue and had questions which would be best. Now to find a job to help him pay for a kit such as this. Gotta love being unemployed

Good luck with your job, as for the kit, Id go TFS. Its the more complete than the Holley, and will make better power, I beleive, than the Cobra kit. Its what Im getting (someday)

Thanks, Tonys89GT I read the install in 50msf and decided to do a kit. I like the price of the cobra kit but the Trickflow isn't that much more.

i don't want to bash on FRPP as i think they make great products, but for the money you can get much better induction components - especially heads. I'd go with the trickflow or holley. I really don't know much about the holley however. I think your best bet would to search these forums, i know alot of ppl have installed the trickflow topend kit, you could find some great opinions on that and hopefully some for the holley.

I think you get the most bang for the buck with the trick flow kit, plus the TFS heads leave a LOT of room for port and polish later on where you are limited more with the others.

As far as the job thing goes... My dads thoughts are...

Trick flow kit, no question. (imho)

Oh and get the track heat kit (also imho) its the same heads but with better valve springs, then put a phenolic spacer in the intake, it brings the runner length back, and helps insulate the upper intake.

With a proper tune, it should put you *about* 300 to the wheels with a 5spd.

Well, obviously I'm a bit biased in my decision, but I LOVE my Holley SysteMax II kit. If you look up Holley's dyno numbers for their kit with the supporting hardware, they're making 350 HP. I don't know if that's to the flywheel (probably, you'd have to call and ask them), or to the wheels, as they did mention a stall converter for the test car they used, but this kit is absolutely sick.

The cam lope is enough to turn heads from across the parking lot, and when it sits at about 800 RPMs it just sounds like it's gonna rip your head off. Just put it this way - it does NOT like getting started up on a cold day. Today I cranked it over and within 5 seconds the car stalled cause it was turning at about 500 RPMS. But when you warm the car up or drive it on a hot day, when you take your foot off the pedal and put it in neutral, you can hear the god damn cam loping in the floor it's so hard. Not to mention that it makes GREAT power, especially above 4000 RPMS.

I was in second gear going down a hill at 4500 RPMS and I took my foot off the pedal, slammed it to the floor, and the back wheels hopped off the ground. In first gear I'll go almost completely sideways if I'm not careful. It's enough power to push you into your seat.

Not to mention I've been told by several people the Holley upper and lower intake manifold is one of the best available if you're thinking about a boost application later on.

For a H/C/I kit, I'd definitely rate this as worth the money. Granted, I didn't buy this one, but if forced with another purchase later on, there is no doubt that I'd go with this kit again. Extremely pleased with it.

Also, be careful with the Trickflow Kit. I've read about SEVERAL pissed off people cause they slap that kit on and they end up making 287 RWHP when they're done. Others report gains of over 300+ RWHP. It sounds like it's hit or miss with the Trickflow kit?

I haven't seen anyone mad about the Holley though. That could also be because more people buy Trickflow kits, but still.

You would get this kind of variance in any kit. Every motor is different. The difference in stock shortblocks could make that kind of variance in the kit. How well your compression rings seal could make 20-30 hp difference.

The trickflow kit is the best bang for the buck IMO. The holley kit is a good kit, but its more expensive. I think the holley intake might be a little better but the trick flow heads are alot better. Plus you get much better cam choices in the future when you go with the trick flow as they have adjustable rocker arms vs the pedestal mount rockers on the holley.

I live in Kentucky and there is only one County they do testing in, and lucky me, I am not in it.

TFS Kit definately. You get more for your money than either kit. Only thing it doesn't come with is the lifters... which the holley kit does(but no roller rockers). The TFS kit is good for about 300 rwhp. People that can't get that on a stock short block has some other issues going on. These kits usually find themselves on 100k+ shortblocks(like mine) so its anybody's guess where they are loosing power. I am extremely pleased with it... so pleased I broke my t5. hehe. While the Holly intake is one of the best, and responds well to porting, I would also say get the TFS kit as their heads are quite a bit better than the Holley and, as stated above, respond much better to porting. I 3d the track heat even though the best would be TFS heads/Holley intakes.

im curious wouldn't it be cheaper to mix and match a little? Holley's intake is one of the best. a set of afr 165 heads would be killer. and a custom cam. i have holley heads on my 351w. They are a bit small for my combo but so far im in the 11's with the juice. They haven't let me down.

That would be nice, but the kit is definitely the cheapest way to get all those parts. youd spend $300+ more buying it all sperately, especially with afr's.
