H Pipe Install

This is kinda off subject but is there any kind of paint to spray on the H pipe before installing to help keep it from rusting since the Mac pipe is just regular steel.

MAC makes one with high-temp coating, but it's higher priced. It's a black coating, much like their Pro-chamber pieces.

I live in an area that we seldom see snow, so no salt. How fast do your pipes rust in areas that do have harsh winters or in caoastal areas? I never saw a major problem with rust, does it take a couple of years, 5, 10?

I live in the salt belt, where sand and salt are applied in liquid and granular form to clear snow pack and ice from the roads. My parents have two trucks (a chebby and a ram) that have been on the roads for about 7 years now and need new exhaust bad. Joints and muffler mounting points are the first to go.
People that live in town have it worst, as their cars don't get enough wind underneath to blow away some of it and also they don't get hot enough to completely dry the solution up fast to help avert the corrosive effects--as much as highway drivers do. :)

My Mac H pipe is going to be delivered tomarrow so hopefully this weekend I will be able do the install. I have one quick question. What has everyone done about the passenger side manafold to midpipe gasket? I bought an OE one from Ford but I have also heard that it is better to buy one from an auto parts store. Which is better to use to prevent leaks? Any input would be helpful

If you install it correctly, it will not leak. The one you have is fine.

For those of you with a Mac H pipe what hardware did your pipe come with. I got an exhaust clamp and some nuts and what look like studs with threads on both ends. Is this all I am supposed to get? Also I must have gotten an older model (I bought it new off of ebay) because it is not in three peices as the MAC website describes. It is only two peices that connect at the H crossover. The guy said that it was $169 new. Is this worse than getting the 3 peice pipe since the crossover isn't welded or does it not matter?

Mine was $130 from brenspeed.com shipped to my house.
It was a newer 3 piece. Came with the two legs, the H chamber prefabbed, driver's side sleeve, passenger side gasket, bolt clamps for connection to the cat-back, and some stickers.

OK so I must just have the older model. How do you go about getting the Driver side studs out to put in the ones that MAC included?

I don't think they included them in mine, as I used the stockers. I have an '04, so everything was in pristine condition under there.
