I must have read a different statement than the rest of you. Their "clarification" stated that they didn't intend to go after "strictly off road use race cars" because The professional racing industry is so big. They're solely after cars using parts that don't meet emission standards and are operated on public road ways.
Now go peek out your window real fast to the mustang in the driveway. Hmmm, not a race car. Titled and registered. Driven on public roads....probably wouldn't be so indifferent about it myself.
"EPA supports motorsports and its contributions to the American economy and communities all across the country,” the agency said. “EPA’s focus is not on vehicles built or used exclusively for racing, but on companies that don’t play by the rules and that make and sell products that disable pollution controls on motor vehicles used on public roads.”
Let's just let them kill off the aftermarket industry. We can "just buy used parts" after all.
