H&R SuperSports owners COME IN

Hey guys and gals, I installed the rears about 2 weeks ago and finally had time to do the fronts on Monday. I understand that the rear has had time to settle and the front hasn't, but the only problem is my car doesn't sit raked at all even after 2 days. The front is a whole 1/2" higher than the rear if not a bit more. The distance from the ground to the top of the fenderwell is almost 27" in the front which seems WAY high. I installed the springs correctly and facing the right way. I just don't see the front end settling another 3/4" Anyone had this issue or have any hints? If it doesn't settle in the next week or so, i think i'm going to just take out the front isolators again which i thought i wouldn't have to do with the SuperSports

Please help

I had the same probs with the H&R sports. The rear didn't drop as much as it was supposed to, and the front even less. It looked like I had a heavy load in the trunk.

I first swapped out the new isolators for stock, and gained 1/8" drop.
I decided to cut them, but after two hacksaw blades gave up for the night. So I put the stock springs back in (w/out any isolators, and I experienced noise in the 2 days I drove it like that.)

After buying cut-off wheels for my Dremel, I somehow managed to cut too much off (apparently I neglected to factor in the progressive rate). So after 4 installations, I have a 2 1/16" drop in the front. The car looks great, but I'm concerned that it's too low (was planning to install a Mach I chin spoiler), and I am planning on buying a bumpsteer kit.

A couple of others have had probs with H&R springs.

I have a pair of front vert springs that drop a bunch more for sale for cheap. My car was TOO raked.

What i might do is pull the springs and make sure they seated correctly into that little groove in the front. Wierd because i made sure they did and wouldnt they pop into place with 3000+ lbs of force on them anyways?

Fronts should sit in the grooves as are obvious but are your rear "pig tails" pointing toward the drivers side of the car as are spec? Otherwise your **** can be off a whole lot.

Yep. they are. Basically the bottom of the springs in the back are both like the left side of this U, pointed forward towards drivers side. I don't understand WTF is going on and it makes me really angry because all the pics i've seen and all the stangs ive seen in person with these springs have a raked stance with BOTH front isolators. Somethin doesnt seem right here.
BTW, not my first time doing springs on a stang, about the 3rd or 4th, so i can't even think of what went wrong since i knew what to do

man sorry to hear you got the same problems goin on with the supersports.

i've actually seen it more than a few times before tho. H&R supersports that really do not lower the front low enough. its a bummer. i'd say make sure the pigtails are facing the correct way and then take out the isolators if necessary. i may even say take it as far as just buying different rear springs to jack the back up more. thats what i had to do and im still not totally satisfied.

You could buy some Steeda X2 Balljoints, they're supposed to lower your front a little bit more.

I don't know about H&R Super Sports ever sitting higher than advertised.

When I first got them in, my car was freakin low as heck.

Here's a picture of when I first got them (just a few minutes after install):

I did change to Eibach Pro Kit since I was scraping almost everywhere.

Do you mind measuring the distance form the ground to the top of the middle of the fenderwell for me in the front and back?

Use the stock isolators to help make it lower. Never heard of Supersports having stance problems....only the sportlines from eibach. Can you post a pic of your car showing the stance? Definately isn't going to look as crazy low in the rear as the sportlines

Mine's about .2 lower on the front. It's not really noticeable if viewed at certain angles or parked on an incline. I wouldn't go any lower at the front on my car.

Well i have the stock isolators in the front. In the rear i have the prothane ones to bring it up a bit and the rear is actually at about 26 1/2" and the front is a bit more than 26 3/4". I might just take out on isolator for now in the front and if its still not low enough, i'll take out the other one too.

Vert springs! The verts drop MUCH more than the coupe springs (they even state it on their website!). I had exactly the same thing. Scraping everywhere, got Roush front springs - perfect now.

Leave the isolators in, and cut 1/3 coil off the front springs.

I left my urethane isolators in, and cut 3/4 coil off. That left me w/ 2 1/16" drop on my H&R sports. If I could do it over, I'd cut more like 1/3 off.

Anyone with H&R SuperSports care to measure the distance in the rear from the ground to the top center of the fenderwell and do the same in the front? Maybe its just my rear is too low and i'll need to do something like get some adj. MM LCA's

Mine are 26-1/2" in the rear and 25-3/4" in the front. That's with urethane isolators all the way around. And my car's a convertible.
