I know the 94-95 cars idle high for a little while then come down. Sometimes on long trips my car idles at 2000-2200 rpm (cruise rpm). How can I stop this? Do I have a bad sensor some where?

I just solved this same problem on my car today. When I pushed in the clutch, it kept hanging until I let clutch out. Go to this link and make this little restrictor plate. It's almost guranteed to help your hanging problem.

I sprayed the heck out of my throttle body with a quality cleaner and it got rid of this problem.

Does it do this while you are rolling in neutral or while stationary?

Mine did the same thing before i got a tune. Tony@HP turned of the dashpot decay function. It keeps the idle high with the Vechile Speed Sensor so that when you come to a quick stop the car wont die. Idle falls immediately back to normal when i press in clutch. For the record, i cleaned cleaned IAC, TPS, made restrictor plate and everything. Nothing but the tune fixed it for me. Are you stock? I take it by your name you have a built 351?!

You could try to clean your IAC, I had a similar problem w/my 87gt, turned out to be the tps. When your car has its hanging idle, you can unplug the tps and see if it drops, if it does, probably your tps. As far as that thread, I didn't read all of it, but something about enlarging something the iac??, I've never needed to go to measures like that, but I've heard that this works.

Just how it says in the directions. It says right on that page that it can be used for GT's too. I made one for mine, works like a million dollars.

Just to let you know this happens when ever you reset the computer. The car has to figure out how to idle again. I beatched about mine for a while and then one day. Gone. It took about 2-3 weeks of driving. I even did the 2min run, 2min off, 2min run with acc. thing to relearn idle. Just leave the car alone and drive. If it bothers you when it happens until it learns just think of pamela andersons hooters each time and that should help.
