hanging idle or no???

My friend is 100% sure I have a hanging idle, and Im not sure if he's correct or not. When Im cruising at say 40 or so and have to come up to a stop; ill put the car in neural. My rpms will stay around 1100 rpm until I come to a complete stop, then they will drop down to under 1000. Is that a hanging idle?

I think it's somewhat normal for our cars. If I remember correctly it has something to do with emissions and burning off HC when coming to a stop...

Correct me if I'm wrong.

yup, pretty normal. Mine will usually hang around 1000 until I come to a dead stop though.

Normal... mine does it and they all do it from the factory as far as I know. As long as it drops to idle once you stop it's fine.

+4 to above. It is normal. The PCM takes the car's speed into consideration. Slow idle will not be activated until the car is at a complete STOP. Try it sometimes. Coast and watch the RPM's. Notice that almost as soon as the car stops, the RPM's will drop below 1000 and settle into a slow idle.
