Hi
Is hard to beat a totally stock 99-04 GT with a 93 GT, Performer Heads, 3.73 gears?
What I need to do? Launch rpms, shift. I´m posting this question because my new brother in law has a 03 and wants to race a few passes. He doesn´t know that I have those mods.
By the way, both cars are auto´s.
Thanks

If all you have is gears and performer heads with everything else being stock, you may have a slight advantage over him.

It depends on how well he can drive to see a real outcome, but the AOD and 4r70w keep much of the driving factor out.

This will get moved to 5.0L Talk, so check over there after while

I think he's going to beat you. Sorry to say but a 5.0 with just gears and performer heads is not all that well matched. You have not exhaust work? Are you still running the stock intake manifold? I think the heads are being choked off by the stock intake...so you really arent seeing all the benefits from the heads.

My buddy has an 01 gt with an auto. With 4.10 gears as his only mod he want 14.18 last year. I with stock gears he still would have been in the mid 14's. I just dont see a stock AOD fox getting into the mid 14's with heads ONLY. It will be CLOSE...but i would expect your car to run about 14.8-15.0.

I will have to say that the last two years 03-04 Mustang GT's were strong stockers. MY 00 GT was a factory freak with a 4R70W....my friends girlfriend leased an 04 GT 5spd....and that thing really moved.

It really depends on how well of a driver each person is and how evenly matched.

It also depends on where you shift, who gets the better launch.

Just for the sake of argument, I look at trap speed as well.

A 99-04 is going to run in the 98-100 mph range with a good driver.

Stock 5.0L's (depending on trim/weight) can run low 90's to mid 90's.

I ran a 14.5 with a catted h-pipe, blowmasters, and a MGW short throw. Everything else was stock......and and that was with crappy 2.1-2.2 60fts [ cut springs and stock suspension with skinny tires = poor traction/hookup ]

For what it's worth, my 5 speed 00 GT has 4.10s, MGW, Pypes O/R X and Spintechs and I would smoke my old fox....I would get atleast a ported cobra intake or a used one.... it should be close

When my 92 was stock w/AOD and 3.73 it went a best of 14.4 on street radials.
Just do the 1-D-1 shuffle when you race him.
