I want to install a 6 point harness in my car but do not have a roll cage. What are my options for mounting the shoulder straps. I have only seen the Sparco Harness bar, but it is like $400. Then there are single bars that don't look too strong. What has everyone else done?

Thanks

The Scroth harness I use are made to mounted to the rear lap seat belt anchor points. I would assume you could get the necessary belt extensions to mount to the rear lap belt anchors like I have mine. Scroth also makes a shorter set for cars with roll bars.

CAUTION....you must be sure to not have too acute of an angle between the shoulder harness and the seat back. Spinal compression can result in a severe head on crash if this angle is to acute.

Twisted,

You are correct, when I'm seated with belts on I'm at 90 degrees. Which is right at the threshold. If the angle where anymore acute it could be dangerous. I confirmed with Scroth that with the Recaro SRD seats and those belts they are safe in a GT, Scroth does caution as that angle becomes sharper it can create safety issues in extreme cases. This angle is the same in our cars as is in a 3-series BMW with those Recaro seats no safety issues, obviously that setup is more common in Germany. As in the picture from Scroth's site...you definately should not mount the shoulder belts to the floor board. Mine are mounted EXACTLY as Scroth recommends. Twisted we are on the same page, just be careful and follow Sparco's directions. As I did with Scroth's.

Thanks for the input. I guess that rules out the factory rear shoulder belt attachment point, C-pillar. I wonder if I can install a harness bar behind the rear seats. Kind of like a rear strut tower brace.
