My heater core is junk and I dont see any reason to run that metal thing that attaches to the lower intake manifold. Has anyone bought a fitting to screw into the lower intake and eliminate the metal thing. There is a sensor that connects to it, so Im not sure if it would throw codes or not.
i am not too sure what you need to know but on my car i there are 2 small ports on the water pump and yours should be the same. i have on port going to the thermostat housing with a short 90 degree tube and the other port on the waterpump is supposed to go to the heater core but i have it plugged and no problem. they make plugs to actually put in them but i compromise with a lug nut. it looks pretty cool actually

They have a brass fitting adapter that will screw into the intake and the sensor will screw into that. If you bring your sensor in to the auto parts store they should have the size you need. I found one for my old car at the junkyard off of a T-Bird.
I have one better...this is hard to describe, so ill acompany it with a picture or two...
Remove the black coolant rail that mounts to the lower intake. You no longer need it facing the firewall, so instead, swing it around and face it towards your waterpump. Now you can go ahead and go directly from the waterpump into the black coolant rail, ONCE you have CUT the rail to size. This will make it non-functional if you ever want to install your heater core again. Its very simple, takes about 10 minuntes.
Look at this picture directly below the distributor, u can see how i have the black coolant rail swung around and hooked up to the water pump hose.
