In my mind it goes back to the original Mustang when you could get any motor in Mustang w/o it having to be a GT.
Only being able to get a V8 in a GT is a very recent thing Ford has started doing.
"GT", to me, is more trying to show off. It's just a label to me and not a representation of what motor I have. I'm just old school I guess.
Also, I grew up where the cheaper car, an LX 5.0 coupe, was actually faster than a GT. I loved it when people tried to convince me the GT had a better motor, suspension, etc than my LX.
I don't care that I drive a GT, just that my car goes fast when I want it to.
In fact I'll probably do the same thing if I'm able to get an '06 Cobra when they come out.
Also, my first love was/is my '65 Fastback so I knew I'd put the ponies on there before I even bought the car.
