I'm running the 280H in mine and have been happy with the results. Since I have the 1.7 rockers the lift numbers in both engines are comparable, but I couldn't go with the 292 because I had a stock convertor and fairly high gearing that wouldn't work with that much duration.

When looking at the 292 I found that it was really popular cam, especially stuffed in 393/408/427W strokers. A lot of the cobra kit guys are using it. Here are a couple anectdotal reactions I was able to dig up:

"You can have a mean sounding engine that will still be streetable and maintenance free. A 10:1 compression motor with a comp cams 292H advertized duration cam, 244 degrees at .050 lift is a nasty combo, about as big as you should go on the street"

"I have used the 292H in many small blocks with great sucess. This cam idles very nasty. It sounds awsome. I give the 292H a thumbs up. I know have a solid cam in my 427"

"Comes on like gangbusters at about 2,500 rpm. Streetable - absolutely."

"The 292H Magnum Cam is for the serious "Street/Strip" type car. An aftermarket torque converter should be used as well as headers. intake, and increased compression. The 292H has a radical rough idle. Power Range 2,300-6,500."

I wasn't able to find any dyno sheets with that cam, but I've seen examples plenty of 351 motors with very similar bumpsticks. In the most recent issue of M&F there is a CHP 427W with Victor Jr. heads and intake, 750 edelbrock carb and a smaller .520/.544L 234/244D/ 112LS hydraulic flat tappet making 486bhp @ 6000 and 487btq @4500. I think you'll see good results.

Anyways, there's some food for thought......good luck!

Noong:

Have you got the rotating assembly for your block yet??? If so, what did you get and who did you get it from??? I'm back thinking that I will build the 408 for the N20Jnky...

Let me know...
