What I thought to be a blown headgasket ended up being my erg spacer I guess there is a hole in it where the coolant goes through in the spacer and filled up my egr valve and one of my cylinders with coolant. We ended up doing the headgaskets anyway and went over everything to be sure. The way the car was acting mushy and smoking I thought it was the heads for sure.

I have heard of that and some people change the TB and reuse gaskets or forget gaskets and that happens.

Yea this is exactly what happened to me, someone put a spacer in with no gasket. Ended up getting the car dirt cheap because he thought it was a headgasket. Dumbass.

Happened to me on my 91. Got in a hurry and tore the original gasket. Tried to reuse it since was a sunday and no one had one instock around here. Took it out for a spin and got about 3 blocks from my house and it blew out into the TB. Had to pull the upper and turn it over to drain the coolant out. Pulled the plugs, turned the motor over, blew the water out and made a new gasket out of some of the sheets of gasket material you can get at autozone.

If the spacer is giving you problems, just remove the coolant hoses goint to it and run a peice of stainless tubing between then until you can fix it.
