Once again I call on the great minds to give advice.

The hatch rattles like hell on the car. Also the passenger side lifts up while the drivers side stays down. I know the hinge on the drivers side is broken, but I dont think it would cause all that noise.

I'd almost bet that it isn't your hatch, but rather a loose tailpipe.

For the longest time I thought my hatch was rattling off its hinges, but as it turned out, a tailpipe hanger had worked its way out of one of the rubber mounts behind the rear tires and the pipe was rattling against the underside of the car. Pushed it back in, noise went away.

I'd still fix that broken hinge, though- you don't want your hatch falling off at speed.

Well you have the two adjustable bumpers on either side of the hatch that you can twist for adjustment. You can also loosen the striker and adjust it if the bumper things dont help.

Plus, fixing that hinge would help a lot.

:shrug:Bumpers??????????????????????????????

Ok im obviously missing something on mine. I just bought it, and its been years since I owned a hatch mustang. Please enlighten me.......where do they go exactly?
If you have some pics please post them.

Just because I feel like playing with my new phone. :D

You will have to find a junk yard for the hinge because as far as I know there is no place to get new ones. I tried a couple of years ago to find new ones. Make sure the bumpers are there and adjusted properly. It could also be the striker bushing. They say that the striker bolt and big washer don't come apart but all of them I have seen do. If its busted or missing just go to Lowes and get 1/2" cpvc pipe (not pvc). Cut you about 1" piece and replace the old one.
