Great, I have the right tool, now how do I get it off without cracking it? Thanks in adavnce for the help guys.

Hmmm... Hard to describe. You may want to drop by a body shop and have someone show you...
You slide the pick end under and along the moulding until you come up on a reveal clip. You then pressure the handle so that it opens the clip, then pull up on the moulding to release it from the clip.

You don't have to remove it. Get some 3M green tape and a razor blade. Tape up to the edge and run the back of the blade along the edges to completely cover the body paint. Get some paper and tape off the car so you don't get any overspray. Lightly sand the metal trim and 2 coats of paint should do the trick. That way you don't have to worry about the old tabs breaking. Its a little more prep than just pulling the trim off, but worth it to me.
