having some FMS gears installed in the 89 this spring..should i just take the gears to the shop or should i buy a gear install kit? if yes then what one? the shop said there might be a charge for small parts if they end up having to replace stuff?

when i had the gears installed in my 91 i bought a install kit with new bearings etc....figured since it was open and was how meny years old i may as well have that stuff replaced....but not sure if its worth the money...

Go get your bearings from Carquest/napa/autozone. The shop will mark it up when they order it

I'm thinking about the same thing. How much did it cost yall to get all the work done including parts and labor?

I think my trac-loc is shot. I heard a loud clunk in the rear when I tried to start on a hill a couple of days ago. This morning I was practicing my burnout (in a safe environment) and noticed I only had one mark.

Am I hurting anything by waiting on a rebuild?

something like this, then get your bearings from NAPA like someone else said.
