Having problems with supercharged stang. Coolant overflows and such

Hey yesterday when I blew my bypass valve off, I also noticed my upper radiator hose felt like it was under pressure so I opened the rad cap and it softened up. Today I was giving a freind a ride and then it started to steam when I stopped the car so I popped the hood and coolant must have overflowed, again my upper hose was under alot of pressure. No overheating at all. Earlier today my car was runnging the worst its ever ran, kept stalling and such, maybe this is related. I think maybe my rad cap isnt venting right or maybe my thermostat is dead but I replaced that like 7 months ago. Thanks in advance

Yesterday the bypass valve poped off, thats what was causeing that nonsense. It was driving fine today except for it stalling for a while. You sure its a headgasket? Now im scurred, how else can I check for blown headgasket? Just compression test? I dont think I got one of those..... Thanks for scaring the crap out of me

BTW this post was after Vibs post

Do not drive the car anymore. It's head gasket time. It's running like crap because you've fouled out some spark plugs. Take it from a professional head gasket popper. Keep driving it and your just putting coolant in the block. Then it's motor time. I told you in yesterdays post to do a compression test ASAP. Hopefully the block isn't hurt.

Buy a compression tester, they are like $29 at any local auto parts store. It's a good investment. Pull a plug out, put the threaded end in. Disconnect the coil wire. Turn key with throttle on the floor for a few seconds. Write down the psi number. Put the spark plug back in and go onto the next one. TIP-If you have a battery charger put it on while your doing the test.

Hopefully it's not a gasket but since a compression test is easy then always start there first.

I suppose I qualify for this title as well. :bang:

Is your car still smoking like a rock concert?
Pull off your oil filler cap and see if there is mocha shake on the inside of the neck and cap.
Sometimes the dipstick lies and doesn't show up mocha but look at it anyway.

A compression test will def tell the truth though. :nice:

btw: Who told you it would be fine to beat on it until the tune is a jackass. :bs: Would this be the mechanic who will be working on your car?

And I thought I was the only one to boost my car w/o a tune. :D

GREAT. I got half a tune, they tuned my f/p a little until I got a decent a/f ratio and I was going back Saturday for the chip and stuff. This is not gonna be fun.Im buying a compression tester tomroow. Anyone have links on the fastest way to do this? Shoud I get gaskets from NAPA or get special ones from Summit or something. Can I getreally thick ones to lower my compression and run more boost? That would be fun...

Its going to be hard to read the comp gauge from inside the car, so i would have a buddy over to crank the engine while you watch the gauge.

Fluctuations of 15% or more is bad!.. if your cylinders are just slightly off from each other your fine. Its when you see somthing like 145-150-145-70... that you know your screwed!

Ive blown them to where i didnt have all the symptoms like white smoke and whatnot... but then agian, the side of the gasket was blown right out and you could hear a badass gasket leak with the motor running.

Gaskets arent too hard to put in.. just a days worth of work, or less. Take it easy next time!!

Ok got a few compression tests done. This tool is pretty nifty. Here ya go

4-115 8- not done yet
3-125 7-not done yet
2-120 6- not done yet
1-120 5- 110

I never did a compression test before so I dont know if they all dropped or what. From what I hear those numbers should be up around 140
