I have a 58 or 59 9 inch out of a ford big car and it has the drain plug on the bottom of it. The plug has a square hole that is smaller than my 3/8 drive and bigger than my 1/4 drive? Any ideas?

Time to buy another 3/8 drive adapter then modify it to work. A little time with a file and you should have something that would work.

That is what I did-simply ground a short 3/8" extension until it fit. Perhaps you have one of those real cheap socket sets laying around?

I usually buy something whenever I stop there, but last week was a first for me, I didn't buy anything. I was looking for a cheap 1/4" socket set. I saw one there a few weeks ago for a couple of bucks, but wasn't there last week, so sprung for a cheap 7/16" socket from Pep Boys.
