HB oil seal replace or not

yeah taking the timing cover is a PITA and doing it while the cover is on is an even more PITA. Might as well yank the timing cover if you are going to do it, and replace the timing gears while you are there.

but if it doesn't leak, I wouldn't mess with it personally.

I do know what you mean!

I have never had one leak.

I replaced one once upon a time myself.

I got enough fun to last me for a life time with that one and ever since then, I have felt like ... if it ain't broke ... don't fix it.

I really considered it since mine was starting to get a little vulcanized. I sized it up like the other wise folks here and decided not to. The seal's metal perimeter looked stronger than the timing cover, which scared me.
