--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I tore down the hatch to the block tonite.Had it apart, rad and condenser removed, cam out and new one slapped in plus gasket surfaces cleaned in less then 3 hours.Going with heavy ported E7's with crane beehives,2030 crane 216/220/539/544 on a 112,ported and powder coated stock upper/lower,ceramic coated Mac shorties,FRPP 1.6 RR,comp pushrods, powder coated stock valve covers, new chain, gears, waterpump, radiator,ASP pulleys, yadda, yadda.
Forgot the camera today but I'll post a few pics this weekend.Need to check P to V and put it together with some detailing.
Interesting things is its a YYY block and checking 2 rockers yielded a 3/4 turn of preload.Funny how all the bolts came loose easy and the intake and head bolts were not real tight. Then again, the car only has 70k miles and interior of engine was spotless.I'm pulling the smog stuff off but keeping it along with the other stock stuff that came off.
I'll dyno when done but had no time for a "before".

Ooooh, I'll be waiting for those pictures. What color did you powder coat the upper/lower? I love painted intakes on 5.0s.

Got the heads on and rockers/preload set also.I lucked out and came up with interesting things even after milling the heads .035
1. intake lines up perfect, laid down gaskest and bolts drop straight in.
2. All lifters came in at between 1/2 and 3/4 turn to reach 25 pds ft
3. nice .060 line on valve from roller almost centered but slightly on intake man. side
4. piston to valve was huge on exhaust and over .120 on intake, very happy about that.
5. stock covers fit WITH baffle,I laid them on with no gaskets and no inter. spinning motor over
More tomorrow, tedious stuffs over now the fun of detail, painting brackets.........

Runs really well and pulls past 4500 now.Low end torque is awesome. You must chose gears to avoid a surge like any cam, idle is more rumpy then stock. It has a quick surge when started and calms down right away at 750,I have not set the timing or played with the idle yet.Way better driveablity then the E-cam I had in the coupeI like it.

Looks bone stock. Nice and clean too. It should make a nice sleeper. 750 sounds about right for the idle. I think the book says 650 for a stick car. It will all depend on what happens after you set the timing.

You seriously need to get a larger MAF. The stock unit will hold you back given your mods. I have a 95 GT MAF for sale if you're interested. Works like a champ. Pics are here ....

Lookin good. I wish i had your luck with the piston to valve clearance. I put in a crane 2020 with .530 lift an gtp heads milled 40 thousandths an had to clearance the intake side of the pistons. Might have more to do with the 1.84 intake valve though.

Could be,I had some much clay on the exhaust valve I didn't even bother checking it.The intake lifted the clay so I had to do it twice and looked thin but came up at almost .120
