I've recently been having some problems with coolant disappearing. Since it hasn't been all that big of a deal I haven't worried about it so much. As time has gone on, however, my coolant seems to be disappearing faster. I recently let my car sit for about a week without being driven. Then all of the sudden as soon as I started it, I've been getting problems with my cooling. Temps seem to be high and a bit sporadic. My gut tells me headgasket, but I'm wondering if you guys have any ideas as to what else it could be. My temps are typically very low because I have a Fluidyne radiator, 160 Mr. Gasket Balanced t-stat, FRPP water pump, and the fan comes on as soon as the car starts. Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

P.S. - I'm going to try running the car with the cap off as it warms up, to make sure there isn't some kind of an air pocket or something. I did have the belt off as I was switching out the alternator (Thats the reason it sat. I was waiting for a new alt) Could it have spun backwards or just have sat long enough that water dripped somewhere and created an air pocket? Nothing else was touched but the battery disconnected and the alt removed. And everything was fine before this.

Check your thermostat housing, the water neck.. I had one crack and didn't know it as the coolant would immediately hit hot metal and evaporate.

It looks like I have some good news. The radiator was down a bit on water, so that is probably why it was getting warm. Also, I finally was able to find a leak. I'm not sure exactly where but it's coming out near the radiator somewhere. DAMN Fluidyne . I'll have to check it out tonight. So I think I have the problem solved.
