How would these heads compare to the E7 and GT40.

1966 289 Hi-Po Heads C60E 54cc 1.67/1.45 Stainless Steel Valves With Screw In Studs And Heavy Duty Springs Worked Fine On a 302 +.30 With a Comp Cam .541/.544

The E7's & GT40's are better. The 289 heads will raise compression ratio. The newer heads flow better and make more hp.

1.67" intake valve? That thing's tiny! Even the E7 heads have a 1.78" intake valve stock. I'd pass on them. Pick up some GT40 or GT40P heads if you're working on a budget.

A L L Ford iron heads have poor exhaust ports

The older 289-302 heads on carb equipped motors had smaller valves
as mentioned

Even though the E7,40, &40p heads have the same poo poo e ports

At least they don't have the tiny valve size

Stick with the newer technology iron heads

or better yet

Keep feeding the piggy bank
for the latest technology Aluminum heads like TFS, AFR, & Edel :Word:

Aren't the stock E7's 1.78 and 1.54 valves. If so, you don't want to downgrade to those old heads.

If the truth be told

Wouldn't be a total down grade

Those older heads do not have ped rockers

Ped Rockers just ................. S U C K :Word:

Go down to the Windsor section for some Hi-Po flow numbers. Not very good...

In 1964, the Hi-Po heads went with the 'traditional' 1.78" intake valve size. What year are yours?

According to the charts, it flows a bit better than a stock E7 head, but the Hi-Po's in question in that link have a 1.78" intake valve

Your looking at rough numbers of 170cfm on the intake/121 cfm on the exhaust, compared to the stock e7 heads of 159/109.

The lift of a cam doesn't determine the cam's powerband to much. What is the comp cam's powerband you have picked out? Part number?

Is the cam?: FW XE284H-10 (powerband 2,300-6,500) aka: part numbers - CCA-31-250-4 and CCA-35-250-4.

.541/.544"
240/246 Duration at .050"
110 LSA

If that is indeed the camshaft, I would pick something else, it has a higher revving powerband that likely the Hi-Po heads, in whatever casting aren't going to be able to keep up with.
