aight im installing my bbk equal length shorties on my stang, but am having a problem with the drivers side, passenger side bolts right up, but when i try to get the drivers side bolted up it keeps binding up on the steering shaft, any ideas how to get them to fit??

Check your motor mounts. If they are bad, this could be the problem. If the motor mounts are ok, and you just need a little bit of clearance, you could probably slip a washer or two under the motor mount on that side to lift the engine up a bit. Some pics would help to see what you're up against.

put a jack down under your tranny and carefully jack the motor up a little bit, i was having trouble getting some flo-techs in my car and i did that and managed to squeeze them in. after i got them in the flanges leaked so i took them out and bought the exact same pair of BBK's that you have and they went in without jacking the motor or anything. i have urethane motor mounts too

another thing, i just checked on mustangs unlimited and the bbk headers they have are listed for 86-93, maybe your experiencing the reason they are not listed for 85 and under?

I guess it depends on exactly how much clearance you need. What do your motor mounts look like? I was able to take care of a clearance issue by replacing mine (passenger side was completely flattened inside). You want to look at the rubber inside of the mount......its should be square/have flat sides. If the rubber is rounded/pancaked, your mounts are probably toast. It's rumored that 'vert mounts either lift the motor up a little more, or drop it.....I'm not sure which, but you may want to check into that. As a last ditch effort, you can take the nuts off the mounts, lift the motor up, and slip washers around the studs under the mounts to gain clearance. Good luck.

the headers will work with my car, only reason they are not listed for the 85 is that it came with a ypipe to single pipe and had an egr valve between the header and y-pipe, all of that is gone now and i have a bbk h-pipe to flowmaster 40s and also my car came with a single hump crossmember that had to be replaced with a double hump one.
