Just wondering if they make any headers for a 5 speed that you can remove the tranny without taking one of them off?

I'm taking my tranny off for the 2nd time in week. kooks becoming look better and better....

Kooks, Hookers, Flowtech (Similar to Hookers, but a lot cheaper), Bassani midlength.

The guy who put my long-tubes on said he wouldn't have to pull either to remove the tranny. I'm gonna put that theory to the test though this spring.

Since midlengths suck I'm left with Kooks, Hooker, and Flowtech? Thanks guys, I'm gonna start shopping.

one thing you should know about Flowtech's though, is that a lot of guys have complaints about the slip-fit design. supposedly it causes a leak around the collector. some people have used a metal band clamp to fix it. i dont know if this applies to the hookers too

and just out of curiosity, why do mid-lengths suck? ive heard nothing but positive stuff about the bassani's. i'd like to know why you dont like them. just a little consumer research before i decide its time to buy headers. thanks

oh, and if money's not an issue, (and judging by your mods its not) i'd go with kooks. i think they're like $900, but you definitely get a great product.

I like my current headers but throw out bearing changes are getting expensive at $400. I'd have to think really hard about spending $900 though. Do they make any more power than the other available or is it due to their quality?

I shouldn't have been so critical about midlengths. I just don't care for them due to not making a whole lot of power.

my friend bought a set a few years back, and the quality was just amazing. this was before i owned a stang, and i didnt help with the install. i just remember when he got them and they were definitely top notch.

i honestly cant give you a dead on # as far as power gains gom but i do know my ass dyno was guesstimating 15-20hp, and this was on a car that only had a CAI and cat-back. with your built shortblock, cams and blower, i wouldnt be surprised if the kooks gave you 25-30 across the entire power band. granted, you already have BBK LT's, so you prob. wont notice a huge gain, but a noticable one. i know MPH highly recommends the BBK's, and those guys are in the know.

anyway, kooks offers a variety of header sizes for the 2V, and the price varies accordingly. here's a link: Kooks Custom Headers

if spending the much on headers is an issue, you could get away with the hookers for less and shouldn't notice a power loss over the BBK's. good luck with whatever you decide

I thought midlength give almost the same amount of hp as LTs?

As for the slipfit leak, it pertains to both Hookers, and Flowtech (same design) some RVT and a clamp will fix it right up. http://forums.modulardepot.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=65834

i was under that same impression as far as power gains go. the only negative thing ive heard is about trying to get them to match other mid-pipes. ive heard the cobra mid-pipe is a better fit than the bassani gt x-pipe? if i get them i plan on keeping my SLP x-pipe and have a "good" exhaust shop get them to fit.

and good follow up on the hooker/flowtech leak issue. i knew there was a thread about it over on modular depot, just couldnt find it
