hey guys, my motor is all ready to go together. i got a set of used gt40p heads off of a 99 explorer. I was wondering if anyone has the specs on these heads?! also i have Mac equal length shorty headers and i was wondering if they will work or will i have to get a different header? lastly, what kind of plug should i run with these heads? Thanks a Lot!!! :SNSign:

i think you have to use explorer plugs, dunno about the rest, i think there is a right up on the gt40p's in one of the stickys

I don't think that you will be able to make the equal lengths work. Some guys have been able to use unequal shorties, 90* plug boots and modified spark plug sockets with P heads. I figured that I didn't want to mess with all that and got a set of ceramic FRPP headers. Fit great and I don't have to fight with plug changes. I run Autolite 104s NA and 103s on a 100 shot. The stock E7 plugs will not work. If you don't feel comfortable with the plugs above get a set of plugs for the year explorer that the heads came off of. I prefer to go with the copper plugs vs. the platinums.

I just bought a used set of p heads too an fro what i've read no one makes an equal length header that fits. i've done a lot of reading on them an they say the mac shorties fit an the ford p headers...my jba's look like they have as much clearance from the block as the mac's an fms headers so i'm hoping i get lucky. u def need the plugs from a 98 or later explorer, sounds like 90 degree spark plug wires help too an those heat "booties", i'm prob gonna do my swap over the winter so i cant give u first hand knowledge but there is lots of stuff if u do a gtp search.
