I just picked up a 65 and am going to do the exhaust and plan on a T5 down the road. Any clearance issues with exhaust/Tri-Y's or other manu of headers. List your experience and if possible post PICS.

Another header question in general. How well do the ceramic coated ones hold up, do they rust or flake? My roommate got some for a chevy and had some rust a year later(not daily driven or winter)

I'm using headman shorties with 351w and T-5. The clutch cable rubs on the exhaust so I had to put a heat shield btween the two. When I had a 302 and headman long tubes it cleared fine. You will have to shorten your driveshaft about 1", get a modified tranny crossmember. I've seen the tri-Y's with a T-5 and they fit great.

I have a T-5 and I'm using tri-y's. I had no issues with clearance at all. I'm running a hydraulic clutch so I can't comment on cable clutch clearance.

Any issues with the shifter coming throught the tunnel? Got any good links of conversion details like the shorter driveshaft, etc.?

My shifter came through at the top right of the opening. I didn't need to cut the trans tunnel at all. I am not using one of the short throw shifters. I think if I did I would need to cut away a little bit of the sheet metal for it to clear.
The driveshaft fit perfectly as well. DO NOT cut your driveshaft until you complete the swap and try it. It seems to be a 50/50 thing whether you need to cut it or not.

Hello,

i use Hooker competition #520-6901 in my 67 fastback.
The car is equipped with a tremec TKO and hydraulic clutch linkage. The clutch cable don´t work.
There are a lot of pictures from under the car on my homepage (www.mustang1967.de). I hope that helps.

I use no-name fulllength headers with a cable clutch. I had to cut and reweld one primary tube to permit cable clearance....about a 1-hour project.

If I had not already had the headers, I would have gotten the Patriot midlengths, most likely.

I'm using Tri-Y headers, an X-pipe, hydraulic clutch linkage, and Ron Morris crossmember. No clearance issues. Cable would not have worked with the Tri-Y's.

Engine angle is 3.5* vs 3.0* stock, and shifter hole required <1/2" of trimming on the front side.

From my main webpage, click on "tech pages", then "trans swap" for more details.
