Headers in a 66 fastback

I am having some issues regarding finding a set of headers to fit my car.
I am looking for a set of long tube jet hot coated headers that will fit:
1966 Mustang fastback with a FRPP 347 450hp "Z" alum. head crate engine.
The car has a cable clutch and a blowproof bellhousing.
Any suggestions/recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

what size are you set on? im guessing ur looking at full lengths?

i was recently on a rampant search to find a 1 3/4 long tube for a 65-66 with somewhat similar combo, and had zero luck. Typical custom jobs were ~800+ as well.

i was then reffered to george klass at accufab. He hand makes custom big tube headers for the 65-66s and will customize it to your setup. Also George welds the OUTSIDE of the primary to the flange so there is no weld in the port.

Best of all theyre only $500...

my second option were the mass produced 1 5/8 hooker supercomps @ $400. These may be enough for your setup, and likely woulda been OK for mine, but it was only $100 more for the accufabs which will flow more, wont hang as low, and will accomodate for any heads, clutch cables, bellhousings, and misc other requests

granted there are likely dozen's of other decent headers, but these are the only ones i contemplated using

i looked into the 6608 & 09s, but I pretty much ruled jba out over their $700+ price tag and inconsistancies in their staff and other retailers responses to my fitment questions. Im guessing ur runnign a t5/tko? Having a cable u avoid the possibility of needing their the $150 zbar adapter, but its still a toss up on the bell even after you grind off pieces of it.

Personally i just couldnt see dropping all that money (dont get me wrong their beatuiful headers) and having to bang, bend and torch them to clear. But i never used them so i cant fully attest to their actual fit. On a plus side it is nice that they have the ball connector...

I ran across Ford Performance Applications. I spoke with Stan.
Nice guy very helpful and knowledgable.
They just developed a Header that is specifically designed to fit 65/66 Mustangs with the FRPP 347 Crate engine. It doesn't require any "adjustments" and is ceramic coated on the inside and the outside.
They are pricey but their fit is suppossed to be perfect.

Mine are being built and shipped in the next 2 weeks.
Dallas Mustang bought the 1st set for their project mustang.
Then they sold a couple more sets.
With the feedback received they have made any necessary adjustments are are now going into production.
My set is $695 plus shipping.

update on FPA hheaders

I have the headers and they look to be of high quality.
However, my builder is having fitment issues with the headers.
There are clearance issues with the steering box and the shock tower on the drivers side.
I have called and left messages and sent an e-mail trying to find out what my options are and I have not gotten a reply.
My car is almost done and now the entire project is at a standstill.
I am really surprised that I have had no response.
My initial discussions with Stan @ FPA (Ford Powertrain Applications) were very
professional.
I will keep everyone posted.

I know this is an old thread, but I was disappointed to see it just left hanging...
Is there any closure to this story?

I apologize for not following up.
The headers are installed and I have had the car since June.
Some minor massaging was necessary for the install.
I was a little dissappointed that they were not able to just be "bolted" on.
I had the car dynoed and it put down 382 RWHP.
I feel pretty good as that is exactly a 15% loss from the advertised 450HP at the flywheel for the Ford Racing 347ci crate engine.

No the cable clutch was not an issue with the FPA headers.
I forget exactly where the "adjustments" were made.
I could look if anyone really wants to know.
I am very picky and the alterations were very minor.
With the FRPP Z Headed 347 things are pretty tight in the 65/66 engine bays..
Again I suggest giving Stan @ Ford Powertrain Applications (FPA) a call.
He is VERY knowledgable and is eager to help

Disclaimer:
I am not by any means an authority in this area..

My understanding is that the exhaust ports are raised on this particular crate engine and it makes for a very tight fit.....Particularly when using Long Tube headers...

I can say for a fact that I have a lot less room than I have had in other stock 289
engines in a 65/66 cars that I have owned..
