How hard is it to replace your headers. Which is better to use? I have a cat back system from Borla on it now. Friends told me replace the stock headers. Not sure which to use. Do you have to pull the motor?

I had a shop do mine. Average is about $400-500 in labor. My shop charges $75/hr and did it in 3.5 which was great. (Longtubes). However, I hear it is not difficult, just time consuming, and sometimes a pain with fitment. You don't have to pull the motor, but it will need to be unbolted from the mounts and lifted a little bit with a jack by the oil pan to fit them into place. Also have to remove the starter, steering shaft, and some other small stuff I believe.

They way I see it, if you don't have emissions testing, do it right and get longtubes. They are a good foundation for future mods and I got about a 10-12 RWHP gain out of mine. Car did 270rwhp/306 torque with the typical bolt ons and BBK LTs with an Hpipe and catback.

Wouldn't be a bad idea to get a tune after also. You'll probably start getting an O2 Slow Response code since the O2 sensors sit further back and that can be adjusted with a simple tune. Car might run a little lean due to O2 sensor location as well.

It'll quiet the car down alot in the lower RPMs but it's mean at WOT. More vibration too but I really like it.

Don't waste your time with shorties. I'm sure someone else with chime in with more info.

This is mine with the BBK LTs, BBK Offroad H, standard Magnaflow catback

You already have shorty headers.

Shorties are probably the biggest ripoff mod in the Mustang world. Longtubes or nothing.

3.5 hours is quick, Ive had them take 6 depends on the motor and header combo, the 32v stuff can be a little longer.

I personally like the SLP long tube headers and X-pipe, it features removable cats if you need them for emissions testing. Plus they are ceramic coated STAINLESS STEEL so they will not rust on you. Be prepared though, the headers and X-pipe will run you over $1000.

What year is your car? 2v or 4v?

Stock manifolds have about the same flow as short headers. You will not see a gain.

The motor must be lifted in order to get long tubes on the car.

Pricey, but that's a nice feature. Paid $670 after a small discount for BBK ceramic longtubes and offroad H.
