just wondering if thats because the heat off the cheaper ones will warp it???

Also I have Full Bassani Exhaust the X-pipe and the Cat Back. Just wondering if the Long Tubes will fit! If necessary I might just buy a cheap off road mid pipe to put into place that can be changed from off road to catted!
I found SLP for 700 @ rpmoutlet.com
I like the Bassani headers they will be 550 on rpmoutlet.com after thier promotional code. compared to the bbk which I found for like 440 or so?? I wonder if the bassani will make equal power!

First off all, if you already have a Bassani 3-piece x-pipe, then you don't even need to ask which brand LT you should get. Get the Bassani mid-length headers. It will fit perfectly with your current x-pipe; no need to get a new x-pipe or have a muffler shop hack it up.

Secondly, I notice you have an AUTO transmission, but Bassani said their mid-length headers are for MANUAL trans only. However, i have a AUTO 4r70w trans and those headers fit fine (after adjusting them by hand a little). it's only tight in one spot. I bought the Bassani headers without knowing they supposedly don't fit auto trans. It was like a month later when I threw away the box and instructions that I realize it says "manual only" on the instructions. maybe i was lucky or something and got a magical set of headers, lol. but in actuality, i just think that Bassani designed those headers on a car with manual trans and then they never bothered to put it on a auto to see if it fits.

About the steering shaft: without the ceramic coating, the header pipes will get very hot and melt one particular portion of the stock steering shaft. the portion in question is made of rubber.

I was really bummed last night when I was that it was only for manuals but now Looks like when I get the scratch I'm going to go with the bassani headers.. In your opinon was it worth it to put the headers on?

get the cheapest name brand LT you can find. They will produce about the same amount of HP. Shorties are a different story....

If you are really going to drop 7-800 bux on LT's why would you not buy kooks? I mean they are stainless steel, you never have to worry about them rusting. Is there a reason no one runs them>?

Because that price is just for the header only, and not for a mid pipe.

Yeah, definitely worth it. i would say that it's the best non-suspension mod that i have. it's power that you could actually feel.

oh yeah, it comes with QUALITY gaskets too. with most other brands, you have to throw away their crappy gaskets and buy oem ones from Ford or buy the bassani ones. and one more thing, the header is made of 304 steel (the good and expensive steel).

Before you buy it, keep in mind something call "production tolerance." meaning no two parts are always exactly the same. so i might have gotten really lucky. the one tight spot in my case is the passenger side collector, it's probably 1/8th of an inch from the trans. it's up to you though if you want to take a chance.

here's a few old pictures i took on the day i got it.

Putting bassani mid-lengths on my buddy's 99 Cobra made me want to stab my eyes out.. not sure why, but it seemed worse than the SLP LT install on my car

The reason I got SLP's are because I already had the X-pipe and I just looooved the SLP's.. But Kooks are awesome, best in the market imo

Yea I am only worried about how to install these things! I wonder how difficult it is to install without dropping the k member? Who knows I much just pay the mechanic 400 to do them!

You have to drop the k member, its WAY easier. Just allow a weekend for the install and you will be fine. Its when you start rushing that you run into problems.

Doing this can also get you more familiar with you car. The more you know, the less you have to pay someone to install your parts.

400 is reasonable for the amount of work that goes into the install.

Yea 400 doesnt seem that bad, I got quoted 450 but that was only at one place and they are a bit pricey.

yea about getting familliar with my car. That doesn't seem like a bad Idea but what about the suspension and the springs don't I need a spring compressor for the front springs. Other than that Holding the engine up might be an issue as well!
