Go to the review section the older one is easier, for me cause I

Go with BBKs

The MACs are junk on the 4v's

I have Hooker Long tubes on my car...they allow the tranny to be dropped without having to remove the passenger side header where the BBK's won't...

There's also the JDM/Kooks long tubes and Bassani mid-length headers to look at...

And like was said, stay away from MAC's...they have a tendancy to ruin 4v engines...

I've got a full MAC system on my 98 Cobra... LTs, O/R H, Dumps... works perfectly! Loud and mean.

The MAC LTs I've seen ruin the 4v motors are the ones whos owners get 'em and bolt 'em right up. Granted you should be able to do that with any part, but I never install any part on my car without a full inspection of the part before hand. Either way I got my headers JetHotted inside and out. That's probably what saved my ass if indeed it was/is weld slag causing the problems. Either way yeah I would say after all the money I spent on the MACs and getting them coated, I could have gotten BBK or even Hookers for less money...and they come already ceramic coated. Is that coating as good at JetHot? Who knows...probably...

In close I love my exhaust, but to tell you the truth if I had to do it all over I would not get MAC. Not that I have had any problems with mine whatsoever, they have been absolutely wonderful, but so many people with Cobras have been screwed, and coincidentally right after installing MAC LTs??? It's not worth the risk man. Experience may not be a fact, but it's worth somethin' I'm sure...

SLP long tubes will be available soon. I have seen the hookers and was disappointed with the transition from the oval port to the round tube. Basically it was accomplished in about 1/2" and held weld boogers all inside the tube.

Here's a shot of my Hookers which replaced a set of chrome JBA shorty's. IMO the JBA's were junk, over priced and not well made. The hookers were perfect with no slag inside, and jet hot coated inside and out. I think the pictures speak for themselves. BTW, those are chrome JBA shorty's after less than 2 years of use on that motor!!

I'm using BBK longtubes, bbk offroad h-pipe and two chamber flowmasters for the classic/generic 5.0 sound. I would have went with Hooker's if I had a little more money and had an exhaust shop do an h-pipe to match up.

Bassani mid-lengths here. Love them, hated the price. Should have new dyno numbers within a few weeks (the ass-o-meter really likes them). They sound friggin' awesome with my cat-back.

Member - are you running the bassani X with or without cats? How loud are those headers from stock?

I'm running the cats. However, the Bassani X pipe that mates with the mid-length headers comes with the OR tubes, which are sitting in a box for future use! (Having said that, if you hold up a Bassani Cat, you can literally see right through it so I doubt there's much difference between the two). Headers are, surpizingly, not that loud over stock, just a lower V-8 rumble. Very 60's muscle car sounding IMHO. Kick that bitch and she screams, though. I've got a grin on my face every time I fire it up now...

I have bbk lt's loved them, easy to put on took us about 5 hours start to finish. have heard nothin but bitchin about the bassani mids each pipe is seperate with no labels just hold them up and guess what goes where. once they're on people love them. for the mid pipe i just bought the bbk H pipe. it's cheap and it is the perfect fit to the LT's then you just figure out which X section you want from which company... dr.gas, bassani, magnaflow. each of these companies will sell JUST the X for about $50 then you just weld your X into the BBK H everything fits perfect.

B B K

I've had mine on for 'bout a month now. Coupled w/the BBK O/R X Pipe and some Borla Stingers. Definetly a different sound then stock!

. . . and I was almost starting to like that radio/CD thingy in my car, too!

Once you've started researching your exhaust options, if you're interested in some decent pictures of the Borla Stingers (pre-install) I took some pics right when I got mine: http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=437266
Not sure if they have that make/model for your 96 Cobra - but if so, they're a wicked sounding cat-back.

Good Luck.
