Bought this car recently. The previous owner let me know of the problem so it wasn't unexpected. But, turn the headlights on on the ears of the dash and half the time they wont come on. The corner lights and taillights come on. But, if you jiggle the turn signal /high beam/wiper stalk enough they will come on. Try to turn on the high beams, head lights completly cut out, switch it back and they'll work again. Fog lights work normally. This would be the result of the signal switch going bad correct?

Hey i had the same problem on my 87 GT. Exact same problem. Hittin the turn switch to get them to come on, eventually they wouldn't come on and i had to drive around holding my brights on... but anyways, i had my multifunction switch changed and that solved the problem except now, when i had my lights on they go out and i have to turn my fog lights off and keep just the headlights on and no problem.
sounds like you answered your own question - MF switch is on the outs. have fun - they are about 80 bucks new.
do make sure you have continuity at the headlight switch terminal for the headlight beams. ditto for no loose or burned wires on the MF switch connectors.
i personally like the idea of relays on the lights - takes stress off the stock wiring and switches.

The Multifunction switches from 87-89 will fit any 87-89 year Mustang, but don't work properly in a 90 or later model. The 90-93 multifunction switches will work in any 90-93 model Mustang but don't work properly in any of the earlier models.
