Hey everybody I installed these HID Dual Beam Headlight Conversion Kit for 94-04 Mustang (9007 Bulb) from americanmuscle.com the pictures looked great and I thought it was going to improve the quality of illumination at night. Unfortunatley its worse then the original headlight. I'd appreciate any suggestions on any converstion kits that anyone has that they are happy with. Projectors etc.

i've seen a couple HID retrofits (using BMW and Acura projectors) and they results look great.

so far, looks like that's the way to go. from what i understand, the bmw/acura/etc projectors can be had on ebay, and there are a few companies that make plug-and-play wiring harnesses based on bulb size, etc.

race-a-holic on here did a great conversion--his is definitely worth looking into.

EDIT: here are a few threads i subscribed to:

What good timing. I was just looking at E46 projectors on ebay last night. I was looking at others like Infiniti FX35s and Acura TLs and RLs and stuff, but I think the E46 ones are the most compact one I've seen. Thanks for the links Paul, those will help a ton.

I just realized I have two projector headlights in my attic and my stock lights to practice on. :D

Aren't you running a 10000k HID kit currently in smoked headlights? Do you get flashed a lot by other drivers for blinding them? Know of any places that sell aftermarket projector headlights for our cars that will work with HIDs?

I want to get HIDs, but I want it to have projectors for the nice crisp cut-off and so I don't blind others. All the projector setups I see on EBAY say they are for halogen bulbs, not HID bulbs. I could do the retro-fit, but I'm lazy and honestly don't want to spend the time and money doing that. I would rather buy an assembly already done, buy the hid kit, and hook it all up.

no problem, Blaise--lots of good info there provided by our fellow stangnet brethren.

i don't understand why all these companies that make projectors for our cars say you can't use HID's in them... only reason i can think of is to eliminate them from being liable if something burns up/breaks?

from what i understand, HID's run cooler because they use less less wattage (35w vs. halogen's 55w)... not sure about amperage, though, and if that has any effect on heat.

that's all i can come up with... anyone care to clarify these things?

on a side note, when i had my projectors, i wanted to stick a set of HID 9007's (conversion/plug-n-play kits..) but spent the dough on the headlights i have now. wish i could've tried it out to see how they worked out.

I have 8 or 6k HID's in my 03 Mach, & although they look alot better than stock because theyre whiter & brighter, but in the stock housing they glare so much that I had to aim them down. It seems like they are bright as hell right in front of me, but u cant see very far down the road, & the cutoff line is pretty horrible too. they do make the car look alot more modern & high tech though. Ive probably only been flashed like 3 times & ive been running them for about 7 months now....

Heres a few pics...

That is exactly what is holding me back from buying the Bi-Xenon kit from the link that was posted earlier. Thanks for posting and giving some honest feedback. BTW, your Mach is very nice!

I emailed AmericanMuscle.com asking about the projectors on their site that they say "are not to be used with HID kits". I wonder if it's an issue of bulb length?

Thanks....Im diggin your SN95 too.... The black FR's look nice.... BTW, this is off the subject, but do u have a pic of the rear of your car, because I want to see how the black bezels look on your tailights. I am considering doing this to my 95GT....

On the other hand, I spent so much gettin theses HID's, I dont want to get rid of em, but I do wish I had high beams & I wish mine were a little less blue & more white...The projector thing is a good idea, but i just dont think they look right on our stangs...

HID's are a factory option on the new stangs....

I was thinking of getting a 4300k HID kit, which is pretty much pure white. 6000k is when they start to get the blue hue to them. I'm not a fan of projectors, but americanmuscle.com sells a very basic projector headlamp assembly that doesn't look ricey at all. A lot of the ones on EBAY have halos and all kinds of other garbage in them.

Thanks....Looks good....

I do have to admit that these projectors arent half bad, i just wish the lenses were smoked... I wonder if HID's would work in these...I wanted pure white HID's & the guy that I bought them from told me that 6k woul be white...I overpayed at some stupid ricer shop in my hometown, when really i shouldve bought a plug & play 4300k kit from American Muscle....

According to americanmuscle.com those projectors are not to be used with HIDs, which sounds dumb to me. I never knew there was a difference in a projector for a HID bulb when compared to a projector for a Halogen bulb. There has to be some reason and it can't be heat; HIDs run cooler. Hopefully, American Muscle will email me back with a straightforward answer. I asked the fools on EBAY and they are worthless, which is expected.

BTW, those headlights and corners can be bought off EBAY for $110 shipped to my door. :nice:

Try this link if you want a new set of HIDs, it was posted by urban96: http://www.vvme.com/catalog/list-s-10145-10146.html

Thanks...WOW!!! I wish i wouldve did more research b4 I payed $300 bucks locally 4 my kit & honestly it wasnt exactly plug & play...I think I will be converting to one of these kits in the near future so I can have 4300k & still have my high beams....

Ive only had brights flashed at me once since Ive gotten my HID's. And I have them in smoked halogen housings.

That's good to hear. Did you aim yours down a little more to compensate for the glare? I'm wondering how much glare there would be since I'm using the ultra-clear headlights. But I have been looking for an excuse to get smoked headlamps for awhile now. :D

I set them normal, but I think one got bumpped into and pointed upwards.

And the dual beam bulbs have little shield over them. When you turn the brights on the shirld moves away from the bulb (or vice versa) so that might have something to do with the fact that Ive never been flashed.

I plan on removing that shield one day. The brights are worse than the lows.

I would get the bi-xenon since most states require a high and low beam headlight, and if you don't have one then its a ticket.:(

I have the 6k and I have never been flashed at or stopped by the cops since there are alot of cars with blueish lights that create some glare. :)

ANd on the sheild thing and bulb moving I'll try getting a pic/vid of it, me and eric were talking about that after we the lights t see if removing the shield would produce more lights but didn't. :nonono:

And I have a solution For Poor Lighting ITs PROJECT BLIND EM!
:D :nice:

heres a preview.
