THE biggest factor in how fast your car will go.

You can get some GT-40's for fairly cheap, especially if they're used. If you want some better heads, like AFR or Trickflow, then you're looking at $1k easily. It's hard to find these used too.

if your concerned about the cam not being enough you can get a new one and do it all at once. cams are relativiely cheap.

however the e cam with a good set of heads and a good intake can make a 300rwhp combo

what are your plans for the car?

road coarse? drag stripe? street car?

you really can't go wrong with AFR 165's/edelbrocks/ or trick flow heads.

for the intake probably like a edelbrock performer or performer rpm. kind of depends where you want your power.

I think I gotta agree with your thinking.

The GT40 stuff will make good enough power to have a lot of fun but usually not quite as much as the more expensive stuff.

If you search for the various dyno threads, it won't take you long to start to see the trends of the various combos.

Pay attention to the torque curves and you will see big differences.

Peak rwhp is great for dyno bragging rights but, IMHO, when talkin Street Cars .....................................

I'll take a broad, flat torque curve that starts low and carries beyond 5K over Peak rwhp any day.
