Alright, im sick of my slow ass car. Im running 15.2's still. This winter im doing a 5-speed swap, and a H/C/I or supercharger. which one will i benifit from more? i know i can install the supercharger with litte trouble, and ive done head swaps and cam swaps in auto tech class in high school, but im nervous to do a H/C/I swap on my own daily driver. Is it really that hard? im going to try anyways but i just want to know what im getting myself into.thanks for your help

15.2? What was the mph and 60'? Auto? 5 speed? Out of either of those, I would probably go with a good h/c/i combo. You already have a good base with 4.10s and a full exhaust. But have you looked into any turbo kits? They include everything you need.

I'm just gonna throw out some things I would ask if I were at the point you now are with your car.

You say this car is your dd.

What are your goals? NA or Blown

Do you really know what all is involved with a blower? To me many things come to mind but here is just a couple. For fuel you will have to go with fmu, or big inj's, or keep the boost really low. You will need to upgrade the ignition. Just a couple of things but I don't see them as falling under the heading of "little trouble" especially for a dd.

It looks to me that you are more knowlegable with this method. The parts can be installed by you and some of your gearhead buds and it will be great fun.

If you go with a mild combo and pick your parts wisely you won't have a lot of drivability probs (important for a dd) and you can tune with mechanical means.

If you go for 300 rwhp or greater then things get more involved (not good for a dd) and be prepared for drivability issues which might be so bad that you will need a tune to deal with them. Speaking of the tune, on a na combo of this caliber, you would not want to leave power on the table anyway. Bottom line is Self Tune or Pro Tune, either one ain't cheap.

You asked about what you were getting into and the thoughts I shared with you are from my findings with various cars and levels of performance.

Good luck

well it have other things to drive while im working on it, but i just want to be able to drive it for the majority of the time. i know everything involved in a blower, im not stupid and i know what to do, and i know all sorts of places around here that can give me a tune. im just trying to get some opionons from people that have gone either way.

I thought my reply might help you in some way.

However

It looks like the time I took to share my experience, which I might add you asked for, was wasted due to the fact that you found the info was somehow challenging your intelligence even though that was not my original intent.

Hmm....Havent seen a post like this for awhile. It's kinda tough to do a S/C and have the other stuff fairly stock. I think Im one of the few guys on here with stock heads and a S/C, and I dont think there is any regular on here with a S/C and stock Intake AND heads.

I think you would be very happy with Intake, MAF, and TB at first, since that is fairly str8 forward, and you dont have to worry much about different tuning. See how you like it, then proceed from there.

Starting with a stock GT, I would do H/C/I first. It's hard to make a lot of power with a blower pushing through the stock heads & intake, and if you go with H/C/I you'll be set down the road to add some boost to keep it interesting.

Personally, I went balls out and bought [what I consider to be] the best naturally aspirated combo available. In retrospect I kinda wished I had gone with a much cheaper GT40/Cobra style H/C/I and added 12 psi of boost :). Probably would have ended up costing nearly the same.
