Health Insurance... How much you pay?

I'm sure you'll change your tune one day....so you single, no kids? I have always had a bunch of medical problems, so insurance is a must. But even with my insurance, when my wife and I have kids, we pay nothing for the delivery of the baby and everything else that goes along with it, including any complications.

Plus, my in-laws have an 18month old baby who was found to have a brain tumor. Had brain surgery....and is undergoing a year of chemo. Spends more days than not in Vanderbilt Children's Hosp. So....imagine having $150k in bills from one brain surgery and another $500k in bills from 1 year in the hospital, etc....at least. Then tell me the hospital is really going to allow you to pay 1 dollar a month and leave you alone. Maybe after they take your car, your house, and your soul. Not a place you want to be when medical expenses are one of the most expensive things you could face ever in your life.

I've never met anyone in my life that went without health insurance and didn't end up regretting it at one point later on.

The purpose of insurance is to cover catastrophic losses you would be unable to cover otherwise. The cost of these large losses is shared by all the policy owners via their premiums. You should be so fortunate to never need your insurance.

I'm sure that one day things will even out. I'd estimate I've paid $25k in auto insurance premiums over my life and my employers and I have paid around $100k in heath insurance. My return to date on both of those is very likely less than 10%. Someday I might be on the other end. I guess I should feel fortunate that I'm on the "losing" end of that money.

Pay 75/mo for my wife and I. Helps that I work in healthcare and for a hospital system.

I turned down a "perfect" job because the insurance was 400 per month.

I had another job that was 25/month for my wife and I.

That was my point. I have cancer, so I am in the process of getting my money's worth. Health insurance is not something you ever want to collect on.

$253 a month for the family plan that doesn't include dental

$50 mo $15 co-pay BC/BS
$12 mo dental upto $1000 per year & medical covers some dental surgery.

The company I work for has 15k employees.

I have full coverage and mine is free. The perks of working for a major hospital.

Just turning the paper work in for mine today. $320 month for the family plan (thats just medical) and i still have a $250.00 deductible per person. Then they only cover 80% of the medical costs. I have to cover the other 20%... this really sucks.
