After hearing a clunking type of noise from the rear end I spent some time a tugging and pulling on everything under there. What I've found is my "dog bone" on the axle housing..though seemingly good and snug is hitting my axle housing! It's easly 'wobled' back and forth enough to tap the axle housing and be annoying. I'm curious as to wether this thing is needed...I would retain the bracket that holds it in place, but with an aluminum DS and a higher gear set in place I don't know that I still need it?

The "doggy bone" is a calibrated weight that is designed to reduce vibration and pinion wrap with the stock gear sets. Once you change the gear sets the weight is essentially useless and can be discarded.

However, the pinion snubber hit's the dog bone so if you want to retain the snubber function you will need to locate a relocation kit for the snubber.

Huh??

Pinion snubber is mounted to the floor..dog-bone is under the axle....snubber hits the top of the snout of the axle where the pinion gear pokes through..

but, I could be drinking and not know a damn thing...

I thought the snubber hit off of the dog bone. But maybe it was there is a bracket that attaches in the same spot? Regardless, ditch the weight and be done with it. Sorry for the bad info on the snubber

On mine, there is a flat bracket that attached to the top of the dog bone. I believe the bolts that ran through the dog bone run all the way up through the pumpkin and thread into the bracket that holds the snubber. Either way the bracket with the snubber can be reattached to the pumpkin with a shorter bolt of the same diameter.

That is the thing, I typically do also. But last night I couldn't find my distributor cover (the black rubber cover) so I think I officially lost that. The rear end was done at PHP so I didn't even get a chance to ask for that back. Oh well...

:p Stay off my thread...I never take info from a vert guy...they're crazy ya know. You've deleted almost everything else in that bay I wouldn't be surprised if you tired to hide the damn Kmember in the fenders with all your wires.
