I have a new 2004 v6 5 speed(7000 miles). I do not drive this car hard. I have added a K&N FIPK and Magnaflow dual catbacks. (they are supposed to IMPROVE mileage) The mileage around town is 12-15! Dealer replaced MAS sensor under warranty and no change.

Need suggestions! Thanx

12MPG! A buddy of mine's cobra with 550+ rwhp get's better milage than that!

I don't know, you're not driving hard? ... bring it to a mechanic, cause it should NEVER be that bad

If you just bought it, take it back to the dealer to have it checked out.

There could be a hundred things affecting your milage. Open the TB and see how gunked up it is. Check and replace spark plugs and wires. Run som TB cleaner and injector cleaner through it. Put in a tank of high octane, and thn see what 87 does after that.

Were the gears ever worked? Id the OD on or off? How's the timing? If it was changed, then that could affect it. Is it chipped? If so, what is it set to? Go to Autozone and have a free diagnostic run on their computer.

You are supposed to disengage the e-brake before driving.

I feel your pain, i get between 12-16mpg in my 03 v6, had it checked over at 3 dealers and 2 independant mechanics, nothing is amiss, i just deal with it, if you figure something out let me know.

Funny part is when my mom drove the car for the the first year it was hers, the first few months she would always forget to put the e-brake down(It was her first 5-speed car)

something is seriously wrong, go take it to the dealership if it's still under warranty.

I posted this before but I had transmission/torque convertor problems on my '01, and it was killing my gas mileage. I went from 17-18 down to 14! After dealer work I was back up to 17, and that's with 80-90% all stop and go driving, on a good highway trip I'll get 23.5

My friends 02' v6 5spd gets 28 mpg on the freeway. He drives it down from Chico State all the time, and talks about how great the mileage is.

Try shifting out of 1st gear when cruising.

But seriously, as others have said, something is not right. I would suggest the usuall stuff like cleaning fuel system, ect., but your car is way to new to have any of those problems. She's under warranty take her to the dealer asap.
