last night my 84 Gt HO automatic shut off while driving in traffic and it didn't start back up it showed check oil when i tried to start it i hadn't seen that light work before... towed it home ..if i spray gas into intake it will start for a little bit and no fuel coming from lines...i tryed pressing the fuel reset in the driver side of the trunk and nothing also oil level was good and a i added a little more and still nothing what could it be ? where is the fuel pump relay? is it electrical pump? where is the pump located? any other fuses to check? also a week before the ac stoped workin and somethimes i had to give it gas for the car to start not all the time ?? help will be appreciated need it for work

i dropped the tank and magicaly the pump started working again so put it back together 2 hours later the car turns of again... could it be the pump going bad? where is the fuel pump relay?

Is the car carbureted, or fuel injected? If its carbed it 'should' have a mechanical fuel pump.

Did you check to make sure the fuel filter isn't clogged? I always check the easy stuff first before I drop a gas tank.

Occam's razor, ya know?

I had fits this one time because my car would crank but wouldn't start. I was gonna tear out the distributor, ignition box, coil, you name it. Turns out the wire from the ignition to the carb fell off. Yeah, i felt stupid, but at least I didn't blow 1,000 on parts.

i forgot to mention i replaced the fuel filter and it has a electric pump in the tank when i dropped it i tested it with a tank of gas with the same conetection of the car and it would pump small amount gas then i tried it later and it pumped out a lot wich seemed right and i decided to put it back ...could it just be the pump? or is there a chance its the power going to the pump? and right now the pump wont even prime...the inertia switch if i press it all it does is come back up is that right?
