Hey Guys~ Need some mustang help...My poor 5.0 is making some funny grinding noise when I shift into first? Can you help?

Was gonna say the same thing.

If it is the clutch, might want to get it fixed before it does damage a synchro. My first gear is screwed because I didn't fix my clutch fast enough.

if it only does it with one gear, its most likely the syncro's.

does it do it with the clutch fully disengaged (pedal to the floor)? or is it only at partial travel? need some more info..

It does it when I start the car and when I am about to stop light at a stopsign. Is it the shifter?

Also anyone have custom rims that they can recommend, remember its a girls car! Katia

lol its the cable that engages and disengages the clutch.. if its the factory one its most likely wore out.. the cable stretches over time and you have to adjust it to keep it taught

The actual clutch is located in the transmission bellhousing behind the motor. There is a cable that connects from the clutch plate to the pedal through the means of the quadrant under your dash.

What he was saying, is if it's the stock cable, it's most likely stretched and could be causing the clutch to not fully engage. Quadrants and cables are two of the first things alot of guys upgrade because the stock quad's can break easily under hard shifts.

Sounds like a synchro in the motor though if you ask me... if it's only one gear and all... Might want to get it checked out.
