I bought a auto trans mustang today drove it seemed fine put it on the tow dollie in neutral and when i got it home no reverse.. then took it out in drive only had first gear.. WTF???? did i get scammed somehow? help help It was a 91 LX

it may have already been ready to die, i know there's certain things your supposed to do when you tow automatics like disconecting the drive shaft because as it spins there's nothing to lubricate it inside the tranny but thats only if you tow it for a long distance i believe.

When towing an automatic, you need to stay at 35 mph for 5 miles. Some automatics are not towable at all. You should have pulled the driveshaft, because you just cooked your trans. I don't believe you got scammed.

Wow, I had no idea.
A car eventually has to be towed, when it breaks down.

True, but usually they're flatbed towed. If not, then they're towed on the buddy bar from the rear of the car with the front wheels on the ground (if it's a rear wheel drive car).

Not sure highmileage.

As far as the T5 conversion, it just takes time if you are a home garage mechanic like me. I could only the car a foot or so off the ground, so you are on your back a lot. I also used air tools to zap the bellhousing bolts and other hard to reach, frozen bolts. All if all, if you can follow directions, have a friend handy to help you out, and a mechanically inclined mind, it NO problem. Check out westcoastfords.com for the how-to article I used. Everthing on the article was just as it was on my car, and I highly suggest you read it over a bunch of times. Good luck, and feel free to PM me if you need additional info, as well as do a search as there is a bunch of good info here to.
