Guys, I am stranded at work. My batter keeps going dead because my brake light on my dash won't stop illuminating even with the key off. What gives? I recenetly installed white face gauges and do not have the dash fully assembled yet. This just started today and its been fine for a week. Any ideas?

Check all the wires in the back behind the cluster, make sure they are all plugged in. Move ebrake around, check your brake fluid level just to be sure. Sounds like a short somehwere maybe your pinching some wires...

try pulling fuse#18, 15amp. that is the fuse that gives power in RUN and START.

with the key OFF fuse out, check for power at the fuse terminal.

if you have power or if the light is still lit then you have a short to power on that circuit.

with the fuse out is the light still on?? if so, disconnect the Low Brake Fluid connector on the master cylinder. is the light still on?? if so, you also have a short to ground on the ground side of the bulb.

in addition to the low fluid sensor, i think the light comes on with the E-brake on, so that is another area to have a short.
good luck.

it does but the ground path goes through the fluid sensor before the parking brake therefore if you disconnect the fluid sensor you've eliminated the rest of the ground circuit.

if the light goes off with that disconnected then you would jump the connector and see if the light stays off. if it does (stay off) then the sensor is part of the fault, if the light goes back on after jumping it then ground circuit between the fluid sensor and the parking brake is shorted to ground or the parking brake switch is at fault.

he still has the problem of getting power to the bulb with the key off.
