I installed brand new guage cluster for 2000 ford cobra in my 2000 gt and did the turn the key thing on and off 8-10 times till the locks reset down and up thinking that would reset any theft thing in the cluster but then the car would not start reinstalled the old cluster and she fired right up.

Anyone with any ideas how to resolve this problem?

You need to swap over the curcuit board on the back of the two. It is a PATS thing. It believe it is a chip or something to do with the odometer.

You have to change the circuit board on the back on the clusters.OR have the PATS reprogramed at a dealer.

ALso they didnt make a 2000 cobra ..lastly your speedo will be off by about 5mph with the cobra speedo(been down that road).

Are you keeping your original Odometer printed circuit board? You absolutely need to do that. Otherwise, you have the problem you are seeing (vehicle will not start).

You MUST swap the circuit board from your original cluster.

i didnt swap curcuit boards when i went from my v6 to my v8 swap witha Gt cluster, i just took it up to the dealer and my buddy programmed the speedo to work with the PATS, and computer, so in theory you dont HAVE to swap circuit boards, however my car went from 89,000 miles to 16,000 miles

Two options:

1) Swap out the digital odometer (as stated above, it is the link to the PATS system). You do not have to swap out the entire circuit board on the back, just the odometer portion.

2) Take the cluster and your car (tow truck comes in handy) to your local Ford dealer, pay them some $$$ and have them reprogram the cluster to work with your existing PATS system.

When I installed the Bullitt cluster in my GT, I went with option 1. It was free. Started right up.
