Ok so last night I went all out with my car from a stop for the first time. So I was spinning the tires and my clutch went loose when I tried to go from second to third. It just went straight to the floor. So I instantly let off the gas and threw it into N. When I got back it smelt like, of course, burning melted clutch. She's still drivable and has no problems except for when engaging in first and second gear. Now it slips when letting half way out.

So I'm guessing I have to replace the clutch. Should I just get it replaced with the Ford OEM or should I look into something better? Price for parts and install, anyone know? And most of all, WHY THE HELL DID IT HAPPEN IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Ha ha thanks for the help

Hey snake it sounds like you glazed your clutch. It may get better with a little driving, or it might not. I have been having problems with mine and it feels like the clutch slave is acting up. I am taking it in next week and I will let you know.

I was quoted $815 by the dealer for the OEM parts. Thats pretty good considering that an aftermarket clutch/flywheel will cost me $600. Is it really the clutch going bad?

It could be! I have a friend here that has about the same setup as you and he has at least a hundred passes and he says his clutch is fine. It really comes down to how much you have slipped the clutch in the past. I'm sure one could burn a clutch very quickly with alot of abuse. Best of luck. Oh and I bet a aftermarket clutch is less expensive than an OEM and just as good if not better.

Go with a Spec Stage 2 clutch and flywheel. Better than OEM, comparable price, and it will last you longer.

I did the same thing when i was at the track and went with a Centerforce DF Clutch. When they took my stock clutch off the mechanic showed me it was assembled wrong and only contacted with like 1/2" with the flywheel. The Centerforce clutch works like a charm and I didnt even need to buy a new flywheel..

i think my car healed itself. The problems seems to have went away. It was a problem when the clutch was engaging in first gear. It would jolt a bit then be fine. It FELT ALMOST like letting out the clutch and not giving it gas, you know the feeling of the car almost dying. Except my RPMs were good and it wasnt going to die. I guess just the motion is what I'm saying, a slight jerk back and forth. Now I thought it was the rear end maybe or possible the tranny but now she seems to be working good.

Heres another thing, over my Bassani X there seems to be a hard crusted goo that reminds me of sap or something. I think I got a bag wrapped around it and it melted. So I guess thats the smell of burning I had.

Moral of the story: Don't **** around with a supercharged car unless you know exactly what you're doing.... Lesson learned.
