Help ..Convertible question

We have recently purchased a 98 GT Convertible and after a few rainstorms and washing the car it seems to have a leak and water is collecting on that little vinyl area behind the rear seat ...it look like a little swimming pool Where is that water coming from ? I have crawled back there and dont see any holes or tears is that a common thing ?

I noticed that on mine also, i cleaned it out with a towel but, i havent had anything since then

rear window would be my guess. that's where mine is coming from. i just have a towel back there all the time for now.

you can take it and get the window sealed for 30-50 bucks dependant on the shop.

how do you seal the rear window?

it leaks at the bottom corners of the rear window... if you stick your finger into the corner you can usually see it

I have to agree, i think its your rear window seal. Someone might have taken it through a car wash with those huge blow dryers. Those can damge it.

another vote on the rear window...when i replaced my top my rear window was just starting to develop a leak. The top splits apart from the glass slowly.

yep rear window seal. your top has probably shrunk alot. being a 98 it is about past it's life span.

i have a 99 cobra with the same leak, from the corners of the rear window.

how do i actually go about fixing it?

Lmfao, itll be alright. My 97 GT does the same and its funny as hell when your driving around you make a turn than hear waves in the back of your car. Mine is coming from the rear window where the weatherstrip has broken and where it doesnt seal (cracks at the end of the window corners). Oh well.. its a vert so i dont expect it to act like a hard top.

My 89 used to do that too. Just a little bit of clear sealant put on from the outsite to the corners solved it right away.

Depending on how bad the window is separated from the window...

This seems to be a common problem with the convertibles.
I always hear about people having issues with the seals on
the windows coming apart slowly.Another vote for getting
the rear window sealed.
