Help decoding differential

I have these numbers on a diff . Can some one tell me what I have? I'm guessing it may be a 2.73? Its out of a 87 Cougar and my buddy wants to put it in his mustang.

V491B is the plant code where the axle was built...273 is the axle ratio (gear size)...7.5 is the ring gear diameter (type of rear end)...and 7D14 year month and day axle was built.

what you have is a 7.5 axle with 273 gears built on april 14,1987

the 7.5 is not a desireable tranny for a V8 mustang its best to find a 8.8...
