Need some help with my 95 GT guys and girls -

I've been having a problem every once in a while where if I push the motor over 3500 rpms my battery guage spikes, my battery, ABS, brake, and maybe low coolant lights come on, and the back speakers cut out (mach 460 system). If I hold it around 3000 or so the speakers don't come back on and the battery guage stays spiked and I think a few of the lights stay on. If I put the clutch in and let it come down to 1 or 2000rpms everything is back to normal in 3-5 seconds.

Maybe something with the alternator? I have no clue. Motor is stock. Thanks.

get it tested

might be that the brushes on the volt regulator of the alternator are worn.

it could also be a short. good luck with that, you'll basically have to try to track it down. i had a sort of similer problem before, it turns out the insulation on the wire for my vanity mirror lights had gotten worn off and it was grounding out on the body. those thing really suck, but they happen.

I don't think it's a short just because it is triggered by the RPM level (whether under load or not). I'm thinking something like what search4aztlan is talking about, just not sure exactly what regulates the alternator or if there is something that can be replaced separately?

I'll have to see about getting it checked. Does it have to be off?
