I was jumping my car yesterday and it was cold out. When I went to shut my hood, the latch wouldnt clasp and it won't shut. What can I do to fix it? It didn't look to me like anything was broken.
got the same problem. You just have to shut it with ridiculous force just throw it down. I know this sounds dumb but I don't have the time to figure out why it does this and it hasn't hurt so far.

I removed the hood latch bracket and added a plastic shim between the bracket and the top of the radiator support member. Now I can close my hood with a gentle push. After I added hood struts, dropping it from 30" was no longer an option.
Rather than dropping it, I lower the hood onto the latch, reach under to trigger the latch, and then use both hands to push the hood down until it locks. When it does, give a quick pull to make sure its really closed and you're good to go...
