help i have ignition problems

yes i have voltage to the coil my problem is i do not have any spark and i replaced the points and condensor gapped them to .034 and still nothing i am getting pretty frustrated

ok i as of today still have no spark i re gapped the points @ .025 per the manual and i am still not getting spark i am however getting voltage to the distributer but nothing past that
another question i have is the ceramic balast resistor that is on the car i replaced but where do the wires go how i have it now is from the positive side of the coil, to the resistor then from the resistor to the positive side of battery and the negative side of coil to the wire coming out of the distributer is this wrong? i am at wits end :bang:

well I would check 2 things.

1. disconnect condensor and see if you have voltage in the points. be sure to wedge a popsicle stick between the points so you do not burn them.

2. hook up a spark plug wire and plug to your coil directly, bypass the cap and rotor. with the key on manually open and close points. does the plug spark. (remember the plug needs to be grounded and away from carb.

If you got voltage and spark w/o cap and rotor. then there is an issue with clearances inside your cap and rotor, or you forgot to put the rotor in like I have done many times under stress.

well when i bought the car it wasnt running. i did replace the points and condensor, i wasnt changing anything and yes there is voltage to the distributer no voltage to coil i did try to check spark directly from coil and i still do not have it. i am going to buy another set of points and try it again i hope that this all works any other ideas ? i mean besides taking it to a shop?

there is voltage to the distributer no voltage to coil

that is odd as power goes to the coil first, then to the dist. the points break the ground for the coil to allow the magnetic field to collapse thus inducing voltage through the secondary windings. it sounds like the coil is wired wrong. check your wiring. the power wire goes to the coil positive terminal, the the points are connected to the coil negative terminal.
