Well I installed a C&L Racer intake along with a SCT custom tune via Brenspeed today on my 06 GT auto trans. Now my car won't start. It turns over and revs up to ~1500 rpm and immediately stalls. I tried returning the car to the stock tune and and the same thing happens. Any ideas. I've double checked everything installation wise and performed the tuning process a couple of times with no luck. Now I'm stuck as Brenspeed is closed until the 10th.

Did you check for air leaks? Are you sure the MAF sensor is installed correctly? I have the same setup and have had no problems.

Call Brenspeed if they're still open. If not, try unplugging the battery for 15 minutes, and as stated above, check to make sure there are no leaks, specifically after the MAF.

Yeah...you might check that MAF sensor, and make sure you have it facing the right way. That open port should be facing the filter.

When I switched from my C&L to a JLT, I just swapped tunes, and got some really funky noises when I started the car. I turned it off, returned it to a stock tune, then reloaded the JLT tune. Since then, no problems.

I'm assuming you're running a custom tune from Brenspeed?

Kudos to St Francisco for the MAF sensor suggestion. I did have it backwards. The car runs great now. The Brenspeed 93 tune is a blast. Can't wait to try Bama's race tune now. The only problem I think I'm going to have from this point on is curing my newly acquired mod fever, if there is a cure that is. Thanks guys for your quick responses. I was up and running within 20 minutes of posting my problem.

Yes indeed...like the time I replaced a 5 speed tranny in a motorcycle engine with a 6 speed and couldn't get oil pressure because I left the oil pump drive gear on the the old tranny...

We've all been there, done that. I'm just glad you got it figured out without much hassle / money.

funniest one I seen was a buddy of mine was showing me his 460swap into a bronco. I seen his torque converter in the garage and told him to fill that with tranny fluid before he puts it in. Well later he called me over to help figure out why his truck wouldn't move. I asked if he filled up the torque converter with tranny fluid. He smacked his forehead and said yep it's still on the garage floor

I believe I mentioned the MAF sensor 1st. I should have assumed if you couldn't see the arrow on it then you wouldn't know what I meant by is the MAF sensor installed correctly. I apologize for my subpar advice.

The advice was fine. It was the installer that was subpar. Never dealt with one of these animals before. I honestly or ignorantly didn't realize the MAF had to face a certain way. All I had to do was turn the housing around and all was good. The MAF will only fit in the housing one way. C&L's logo on the MAF housing winds up on the bottom and out of site when you have the MAF pointing to the rear of the engine bay and facing the correct way (hole towards the filter). This seemed odd to me as it hides the logo.

That's the way logos should be (hidden). If they want to donate the part or sponsor me, they get to put their logo on my car (nobody has done that yet btw). If I'm paying for the part, they're paying for the advertising space. Some of these companies are ridiculous with their self promotion on parts you have to pay for.

It's just one of the ways to get recognition in this industry.

Psyco,
If I hadn't done a whole lot of lurking around this site and others like it I would have probably installed mine wrong as well.

How do you like it now that it is working?

Here's a good one. Buddy of mine just finished a hi-po 302 build up for his 1977 mustang hatch back 4 speed (the hot machine of the day, 13" tires and all) and forgot to put the shaft in that goes between the distributor and the oil pump. No oil pressure for the first two minutes of life = 1 boat anchor. Sure looked good though.

Yeah - I had the SAME issue. I forgot to plug that sensor back into the Steeda intake... I guess thats what happens when you work outside, in the winter, with minimal lighting lol. I plugged the sensor in, and everything was fine.

I love the new setup. The car is very lively now. I'm using the Brenspeed 93 tune. I started with the 87 octane tune (still had some in the tank) which was a big improvement over the stock tune, especially with throttle response and shift points. But the 93 tune took everything and then some to another level. The cars gets into the power band much quicker and goes like crazy. Definitely money well spent.

I couldn't agree more. Whenever I have to put the old set-up back on to take it to the dealer I hate it.
