im instaling cams how do get the gear off is ther a special tool i need i have the bolt off and the gear will move slighty but i cant get it to slide off completly

its prolly the chain holding it on.. your going to have to unbolt the cam and kinda pull the cam out of the sprocket, MAKE ssure that your buddy holds that cam gear with a couple sets of vice grips nice and tight man!

it should come off.....no special tricks to it as I remember

he is doing it with the timing chain cover on, it sounds like the chain is just binding

like when you hold a bike chain out sideways you can move it around like a snake, is this the case?

ya i doing i twith the front cover on, the chain is binding on the tensioners and i cant even get a little slack out of the tensioners

well then ya, as forum said, you should be able to just take off the cam caps and do it that way..

use gloves be careful, those dam cams are sharp

i finally got them in, then i found out that npi cams and pi cams have different cam bolts so i had to drive 20 miles to the juck yard and got them out of a police interceptor that had pi heads

You should of took the PI heads.

i was thinking about that but they been sitting out in hte open with no intake or hood so there in pretty rought condition and they were filled up with water today when i went there
